How does structured cabling work?
A network system consists of small elements (subsystems) and a series of panels and boxes. These elements are used to make a structural base that enables users to fit ports with patch channels at the top level of the system. Consequently, a patch panel is connected to another patch by the network in Main Distribution Area (MDA).
Data cable installation and design is governed by a set of standards that stipulate offices, centres, and buildings for voice communications using various types of cables. These standards specify how the cabling is to be laid in different topologies to meet the needs of the client. Each outlet is then fitted into a PBX or an IP telephone system patch or a network switch for network use.
These standards are put in place to ensure consistency in design and installation, uniform documentation, and conformance to transmission line and physical line requirements.
